Here in the Dreamwoods, every breeding cat undergoes comprehensive health screening, including DNA testing, echocardiograms, hip x-rays, respiratory and fecal PCR testing, and careful pedigree analysis with low inbreeding coefficients. While forest magic may play a part in what we do, science is the foundation of our breeding program.
We absolutely adore Maine Coons, but sadly these gentle forest giants are predisposed to conditions such as hip dysplasia and heart disease. That’s why we encourage every kitten family to look beyond the words “health tested” when searching for a breeder. DNA testing is an important piece of the puzzle, but it is only one piece.

Deep in the Dreamwoods, every kitten begins their journey surrounded by love, fresh mountain air, and a team of dedicated humans who have willingly surrendered all claim to a normal sleep schedule.
From day one, kittens are nurtured with high quality nutrition, gentle socialization, and more attention than they probably think is reasonable. If a kitten needs bottle feeding every two hours, that’s exactly what happens. Coffee may be involved.
As they grow, they are introduced to the sights, sounds, and adventures of everyday life. They learn that baths are survivable, car rides aren’t the end of the world, humans are excellent sources of cuddles, and cardboard boxes are among nature’s greatest mysteries.
The result is a kitten that is beautiful, confident, curious, and ready to bring a little Dreamwoods magic into their forever forest.

There is truly nothing quite like a Maine Coon. They’re somewhere between a cat, a dog, a woodland creature, and an unpaid household supervisor. They’re curious, affectionate, intelligent, playful, and deeply committed to being involved in absolutely everything you do. Going to the bathroom? They’re coming. Folding laundry? They have opinions. Working on your computer? They’ve volunteered to help by sitting directly on the keyboard. Maine Coons don’t simply live in your home. They become your shadow, your sidekick, and your very best friend. In fact, they may politely (or not so politely) inform your other pets and human besties that they have been replaced.
